HELP & SUPPORT
What We Are
A community driven technical apprenticeship scheme for web development
18 month programme of industry lead, learner focussed training and mentored on-the-job experience
delivered in association with:
We know you probably get calls every week from firms trying to sell you apprentices.
But, if you would like to work with a team dedicated to improving not only the coding standards and use of best practice in entry level web developers but also the levels of inclusion and diversity in the industry, please do get in touch.
What We Do
We recruit people, often from disadvantaged backgrounds and underrepresented groups,
then we train and coach them through an 18 month work placement
with a web development team in the Leeds City Area.
1. Expert Training
The entire curriculum is devised, created, reviewed and delivered by experienced, practicing web developers. Many of them are experts in their fields.
2. Business Focus
We have a stringent selection process and provide pre-apprenticeship training in essential skills to ensure our candidates can hit the ground running. We also offer free consultancy and advice for mentors and team leads.
3. Social Good
Recruitment is focussed on less privileged and underrepresented groups and profits from the scheme are directed to outreach programmes promoting inclusion and diversity.
It's not all about code, we train our apprentices in a wide variety of topics. Starting with essential vocational skills like effective debugging, git version control and workflows, later moving on to explore concepts like functional programming and Object Oriented UX.
From past employers
The scheme is one of the very best. The assessment process, pre-start boot-camp and knowledgeable trainers mean we get engaged, motivated apprentices contributing to our business from day one.
Happy made the process of taking on an Apprentice a joy. We were very impressed by the pre-apprentice training they provided and the calibre of the candidates themselves. We would not hesitate to recommend them.
An antidote to resource scarcity in our industry, the Drupal Apprenticeship scheme creates the right environment for those just embarking upon a career in development to realise their true potential.
Taking on an apprentice has been fantastic experience. We have an excellent new team member, and have been really well supported all the way.
How much does it cost?
The selection process, pre-apprenticeship training and an additional 3 months of supported learning at the end of the training are completely free. We only charge for the 15 months of group training.
Non-Levy Paying Companies (most SMEs)
Training is 90% funded by the government so cost to business is just £110 a month for 15 months.
Levy Paying Companies
Costs for the training is £16,500 per candidate recouped directly through the levy system.
The employer pays the apprentice wages - a typical starting salary is £9-£18k pa (£5-£10 ph) dependant on experience and location.
